Lost & Found

(not actual dog)
Dan & Judy Murchison have a young Weimaraner [dog] that was running loose on the Parkway. They have called around but have not found his owner. They plan to put out flyers tomorrow - if any of you know who may have lost him please call Dan or Judy at 408-7445.

A sunvisor [hat] was found after the annual BBQ at Veterans Park last week. Inquiries have been made, but no takers were found.
It is a straw visor with a black band. The sun visor appears to be in very good condition. Call Buzz or Carol Williams at 980-0032 to recover it.

Club Membership

Congratulations to our Directors for their diligent efforts to ask all of our residents to join The Sanctuary Club!

The effort has given the club an 81% increase in membership over last year!

We now have 98 out of 101 resident households who are paid - up members in good standing.

Great team effort! Thank you all.

Hoover goes for Alabama record with giant Apple Pie!

The baking started Saturday, May 1 and the giant pie will be served today at Veteran's Park!

Admiring a huge pan soon to be filled with apple pie are, from left, Daniel Dozier, Gary Skelton, Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos, Erin Colbaugh, Tommy Daniel and David Buchanan.

Some folks in Hoover are preparing to begin tonight baking what they believe will be the largest apple pie in Alabama history.

The pie will be 10 feet, 3 inches in diameter, baked in a pan that literally weighs a ton --2,000 pounds.

Students from Jefferson State Community College's Culinary Hospitality Institute, with director Joseph Mitchell, will bake the pie at Hoover's Veterans Park. It will be served Sunday for Celebrate Hoover Day.
